Most of the country will have the opportunity to see Jordan Love’s first career NFL start on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Because the Green Bay Packers’ showdown with the Chiefs is “America’s Game of the Week” on FOX, everyone but those located in the viewership areas of the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers will get to see the matchup at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.
Here’s the TV broadcast map for FOX’s late afternoon timeslot, via 506sports.com, and all viewers in the red areas will get Packers-Chiefs:
This isn’t a primetime game in terms of a national viewership opportunity, but it’s as close as it can get for a game kicking off in the late afternoon timeslot.
Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, FOX’s top broadcast partnership, will call the game.
FOX protected the game, thinking a battle between Aaron Rodgers and the Packers and Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs would be among the best matchups of the 2021 NFL season. It’s still a great game – the Packers have been in the NFC title game each of the last two seasons, while the Chiefs have won the AFC in back-to-back years – but the loss of Rodgers to the COVID-19 reserve list and Kansas City’s shaky 4-4 start has taken some of the shine off the contest.
The Cardinals and 49ers are the only other game in the late afternoon timeslot on FOX.
The Packers and Chiefs will kick off from Arrowhead Stadium at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday.
