Nevada quarterback Carson Strong has played himself into the upper-tier QB discussion for the 2022 NFL draft, thanks to his production as well as what he offers from an arm talent perspective. Earlier this season, Strong and the Wolfpack had a chance to go on the road to Kansas State and knock off a Big 12 opponent.
That did not happen, as Strong and Nevada came out on the losing end. But a few years ago we saw Utah State and Jordan Love go on the road and lose to LSU, but Love would eventually find himself drafted in the first round despite throwing three interceptions on the afternoon.
And now he is starting this week! What a world!
But back to Strong. Despite the loss, and the interception he throw in the losing effort, there are moments where you can easily see his game translate to the next level.
However, I imagine a discussion about functional athleticism lurks in his future:
