The biggest missing piece of the puzzle for the Pittsburgh Steelers defense this season has been defensive end Stephon Tuitt. Tuitt continues to try to return from a knee injury that has sidelined him all season going all the way back to the beginning of training camp.

However, fellow defensive lineman remains optimistic that Tuitt will play this season. Heyward addressed the media on Thursday morning and echoed that same sentiment.

The Steelers defensive line is in shambles this season thanks to injuries. Aside from Tuitt’s absence, starting nose tackle Tyson Alualu is also on IR and has had to be replaced in the starting lineup. With Pittsburgh eyeing a playoff spot, getting Tuitt back for this stretch run would be huge. When healthy he’s practically the equal of Heyward in terms of production.
