Rutgers field hockey remains top three in the nation, the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll out on Tuesday with good news for the Scarlet Knights.

Despite a 3-0 loss a week-and-a-half ago at No. 2 Michigan, Rutgers is maintaining their lofty ranking. It is the second-straight week that Rutgers has checked in at No. 3 in the poll. The Scarlet Knights are 15-3 (6-2 Big Ten) in what is an absolutely brutal Big Ten this year.

The Big Ten, as usual, is well-represented in the poll. No. 1 Iowa and then second-ranked Michigan check-in atop the poll with No. 5 Northwestern, No. 6 Maryland and No. 7 Penn State making it six Big Ten teams in the poll’s top 10.

Since a 3-0 loss at Michigan on Oct. 22, Rutgers has won three straight games including 3-1 at then No. 21 Ohio State, 3-0 at Michigan State and then 2-1 at home to Lafayette to close out the regular season.

Rutgers is hosting the Big Ten Tournament this year. The Scarlet Knights are a second-seed and open on Nov. 4 with a game against No. 7 Indiana. The Scarlet Knights beat Indiana 1-0 on Oct. 2 in the regular season.
