The Tennessee Titans have made their first move in the wake of the serious foot injury to running back Derrick Henry, as the team is signing veteran and future Hall of Famer, Adrian Peterson, to its practice squad.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Peterson’s stint on the practice squad is expected to be temporary, though. Tennessee will look to move him to the active roster after bringing him in.
Shortly after news broke of the signing, Peterson had this to say about joining Tennessee, per USA TODAY’s Josina Anderson:
“The workout was good. It feels good to get back into football movement and to sign with a contender,” Peterson said. “We have big shoes to fill for Derrick Henry who I feel was the front runner for MVP, but I’m looking forward to contributing to the running back room and helping the Titans to win the division and to chase the ultimate goal of winning a championship.”
If Peterson does indeed suit up for the Titans’ next game, his debut will come in a tough spot. The Titans take on the Los Angeles Rams in Week 9, a team that already had Aaron Donald and just added Von Miller on Monday.
“That’s a whole different story. I’ll be ready, though,” Peterson said of facing the Rams.

The addition of Peterson now gives the Titans a duo of he and Jeremy McNichols. We expect the Titans to continue to be active, even after inking Peterson.
