The Vikings placed TE Ben Ellefson on IR this week. After that, Minnesota elevated a player to add depth to the tight end position group in Week 8.
The Vikings announced that they’re elevating TE Luke Stocker to the gameday roster. This move shouldn’t come as a shock: Stocker is a blocking tight end, just like Ellefson.
Minnesota also made another practice squad elevation: DE Kenny Willekes. Willekes showed promise in the preseason this year. Like Stocker, Willekes adds depth to a Minnesota position group that desperately needs it.
The Vikings traded DE Stephen Weatherly to the Broncos before the trade deadline. Minnesota DE Patrick Jones is also doubtful for the Week 8 game.
That means Willekes could earn some reps on defense against the Dallas offense. The Cowboys currently have the top-ranked offense in the NFL. Vikings coach Mike Zimmer has had success against the best NFL offenses in the past.
