Ravens OL coach Joe D’Alessandris says G Kevin Zeitler is having ‘a whale of a year’

Ravens offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris said that offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler has had “a whale of a year” so far

The Baltimore Ravens signed guard Kevin Zeitler to a three-year, $22.5 million contract during the 2021 offseason. The veteran previously had stops with the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants, so Baltimore marked the third AFC North team that he’s suited up for.

Zeitler has always been a steady presence on any line that he’s been a part of, and that hasn’t changed during his short time with the Ravens. When Baltimore offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris was asked about how great of a season that Zeitler has had, the coach took the time to praise Zeitler and what he’s done so far in 2021.

“I’m glad you said that, because I see the same thing. I see this young man; he is a football player. He loves the game. He’s a student of the game. He applies coaching. He listens to it. He applies the technique and fundamentals. I think he’s having a whale of a year as a guard in run blocking and pass protection. It isn’t perfect, but he is doing one heck of a job. He’s stabilized our right guard position.”

The 10-year veteran has been a beacon of consistency on a Ravens’ offensive line that has seen player after player go down with injury, forcing Baltimore to shuffle their line combinations all season long. His signing is more than paying off, and hopefully Zeitler can continue to build on is performance through seven weeks.
