Indiana at Maryland odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Indiana at Maryland odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Indiana Hoosiers (2-5, 0-4 Big Ten) head to College Park, Md. to face the Maryland Terrapins (4-3, 1-3) this Saturday. Kickoff at Maryland Stadium is set for 12:00 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Indiana at Maryland odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Nothing has gone right for Indiana, who entered 2021 as a ranked team but instead has gone winless in conference play this year. QB Michael Penix Jr. has been out with a shoulder injury, and the offense has struggled (309.7 yards per game; 121st nationally). The Hoosiers’ defense is coming off a tough outing against No. 5 Ohio State in which it gave up 44 points… in the first half.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Maryland started the year with four straight wins but has dropped its last three games to No. 10 Iowa (14-51), No. 5 Ohio State (17-66), and Minnesota (16-34). QB Taulia Tagovailoa has led a top-20 passing attack, but has struggled during the team’s losing streak with a 5/7 TD/INT ratio (5 INTs came in one game against Iowa).

Indiana at Maryland odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Maryland 34, Indiana 24

Money line

Things are trending toward Maryland winning comfortably, so PASS on the -230 money line and take better odds against the spread.

Against the spread

Indiana is just 1-6 against the spread this year; the lone time they covered was in Week 2 against FCS Idaho. The offense has scored just 22 points in its last three games combined. Maryland hasn’t been all that hot recently either—it hasn’t covered the spread in any of its last three games—but its passing attack will be the best unit on the field this Saturday.

Look for Tagovailoa to rebound from his recent slump and take MARYLAND -5.5 (-108)  to win this by a touchdown or more.

Over/Under

The Over has hit in two of the last three games for both of these teams, and this 49.5 number would be the second-lowest of all Maryland’s games this season. Look for the Terps to do the heavy lifting, but Indiana should also put up enough points against a mediocre Maryland defense to hit the OVER 49.5 (-112).
