The Kansas City Chiefs apparently have already tried to make a trade ahead of the upcoming November 2nd deadline.
Kansas City has been searching for pass-rush help ahead of the NFL’s trade deadline. They’ve also been connected to Pittsburgh Steelers DE/OLB Melvin Ingram over the past several days.
Ingram is reportedly unhappy to see his playing time decrease in Pittsburgh with the emergence of Alex Highsmith. The veteran pass-rusher, formerly of the Los Angeles Chargers, visited the Chiefs during the 2021 free agency period. He ultimately chose to join the Steelers over other teams he visited.
According to NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala, the Chiefs have already made an offer for Ingram, but the Steelers have not been so keen as to accept the offer. They’d prefer to send Ingram to a team that isn’t in the AFC conference.
As @RapSheet reported this weekend, OLB Melvin Ingram does indeed want out of Pittsburgh after seeing a reduction in his playing time. I’m told KC made an offer, but the #Steelers ideally don’t want to send him to an AFC team. Could the #Cardinals make a good trade partner?

It would cost Kansas City just over $650K to acquire Ingram’s contract from Pittsburgh. Convincing Steelers GM Kevin Colbert to make the trade seems like an entirely different challenge, and one that could ultimately prevent this trade from happening.
One thing this does tell us is that the Chiefs do appear to be buyers ahead of the NFL’s trade deadline. They’ve shown that they are looking to improve a pass rush that has been lacking through seven games this season. Ingram would immediately be the top pass-rusher on the team in terms of pressures (18) should the Chiefs acquire him this week.
