Michigan State didn’t play this past weekend, but their chances of reaching the College Football Playoff still experienced a slight dip.
FiveThirtyEight, a data firm, is releasing weekly statistical odds for the nation’s top teams making the College Football Playoff and undefeated Michigan State is still in the mix. The Spartans, however, dropped in the updated statistical odds from last week with Michigan State now listed at a 12 percent chance of reaching the College Football Playoff. Last week it was 13 percent.
Michigan State remains behind only Ohio State (36 percent), Michigan (25 percent) and Iowa (13 percent) for best chances to reach the playoff from the Big Ten.
Michigan State is also listed to have a 10 percent chance of winning the Big Ten and a 2 percent chance of winning the national championship.
Michigan State has a huge rivalry matchup this weekend against Michigan. Both teams are 7-0 entering this game, and the winner will ultimately remain in contention for the Big Ten title and a spot in the College Football Playoff.
