The biggest critique against Mac Jones has been his inability to make big plays and throw the deep ball.
Jones, as he’s been doing all season, continues to prove everyone wrong and he executed a perfect deep pass to Kendrick Bourne late in the Patriots’ 53-14 Â rout of the New York Jets. Jones threw 24-of-36 on the day with 307 and two touchdowns — his first 300-yard game of his career.
Bourne, who had a passing touchdown and four catches for 68 yards on the day, dusted his defender and brought in the 46-yard reception.

Jones spoke with reporters following the game and discussed the play.
“I think it was just a one-on-one opportunity, and all of our guys got open, and it’s just pick your poison,” Jones said. “I just had good time in the pocket, offensive line did a good job protecting, and then just let it go, and he made a good play. We can continue to do that and just continue to refine other areas that we want to work on. So that was a good start.”
Jones and the Patriots proved potential on both sides of the ball — but, now it will need to translate against teams with more talent than the Jets.
