Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga cleared to return to team practice

The Warriors have ruled out Kuminga for the next three games due to his right knee injury.

Golden State Warriors rookie Jonathan Kuminga has been ruled out of their next three games due to a strained right patellar tendon, the team announced on Saturday.

Kuminga suffered the injury during the preseason game on Oct. 6 in the fourth quarter against the Denver Nuggets. The team said Kuminga is making good progress in his recovery and has been cleared to return to full practice but will not play in the next three games.

He will be reevaluated by the team on Friday.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr this week said Kuminga had been stepping up his rehab with assistant coach Kenny Atkinson. He has made good progress during his rehab and will now be able to join his team in practice.

The seventh pick played sparingly with the Warriors during his two preseason games. He registered eight points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 17 minutes between his two appearances, playing only in the second half in each contest.

Certainly, missing part of the preseason and the start of the regular season was unfortunate for Kuminga but it appears as though he is making good progress and will soon return to the court.
