[autotag]Tony Ferguson[/autotag] is doubling down on his pursuit of a fight with [autotag]Conor McGregor[/autotag].
After calling out McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) for a fight Thursday, Ferguson (25-6 MMA, 15-4 UFC) circled back with a more aggressive and blunt social media attack on the former two-division UFC champ.
McGregor opened the door during his Twitter Q&A with fans, during which he said he’s eager to make his UFC return and take out all the “clowns” on the roster. Moreover, the Irishman said he’s bulked up significantly while recovering from the broken leg he sustained in his first-round TKO loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July.
Ferguson doesn’t seem to think McGregor’s gain in mass is legitimate or natural, though. Ferguson accused McGregor of using human growth hormone (HGH) and said it’s a product of his weak mental and physical state (via Twitter):
Taking Growth Hormone Will Do That To Someone’s Build. You’re Mentally Weak & Your Leg Is Compromised. Your Fragile, Frail & Breakable. That GH Gon’ Make U Break Kid. Keep Pumpin’ Ya Chest Ya Cheat. Not The 1st Time God Punished You. You Like Picking On People And DJ’s? WTF Pussy pic.twitter.com/mtYmMRWU4r

The tweet from Ferguson didn’t take long to register on McGregor’s radar. McGregor quickly fired back and dragged Ferguson’s wife into the crossfire in reference to the troubling mental health situation “El Cucuy” had in March 2019 (via Twitter):
Omg, god bless you kid. Mental basket sad case. I am going to share your scared wife’s video that was sent to us of you screaming crying as you smash your house up. What a sad bastard u are. No brains. Empty head. Losing streak. No management. Wife sending us videos in fear.

Ferguson and McGregor have seemingly been on a collision course for years. The pair once was managed by the same group at Paradigm, but the relationship soured on Ferguson’s end when he thought the company wasn’t operating in his best interests. McGregor got a fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov before Ferguson could step in the cage with his longtime rival, and ultimately Ferguson split with Paradigm.
The timing could be right for the pair to finally come together, though, since both currently are on the outside of the lightweight title picture looking in.
McGregor has lost three of his past four fights, including back-to-back stoppage losses against Poirier. Additionally, he’s found himself in the headlines for the wrong reasons, from his questionable Twitter rants to his red carpet scuffle with Machine Gun Kelly at the MTV Video Music Awards to allegations he punched a famous Italian DJ in Rome.
Ferguson, for his part, is currently on a three-fight losing skid, having dropped bouts to Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush.
