Houston Texans rookie quarterback Davis Mills has had a rough go through his first four starts as he has seen some of the best safeties in the NFL.
Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals doesn’t look to be any different as the Arizona Cardinals feature a dynamic playmaker on the backend in All-Pro safety Budda Baker.
Offensive coordinator Tim Kelly has great respect for Baker.
“He flies around,” said Kelly. “He’s like a blur on tape. He’s a see-ball, get-ball type guy and you can tell he’s got great instincts. He’s always around the football.”
Mills has gone against Jeremy Chinn, Micah Hyde, Devin McCourty, and Khari Willis thus far. Baker may be the toughest challenge Mills will face.
“We’ve seen some good safeties and Budda is up there for Davis from the guys we’ve seen this year with being a guy who is really productive and can make plays on the ball in both the run game and the pass game,” said Kelly. “Again, just continuing to work with Davis and his film study and making sure he’s got an idea as to what to expect when the ball is snapped based off different looks and those lines.”
The Texans are 17.5-point underdogs against the Cardinals, and Houston has averaged 8.5 points per game since Mills has taken over in Week 3.
