Throughout its tradition-rich history, Tennessee has captured some monumental victories.

This season, each week, Vols Wire will look back at one of Tennessee’s memorable games against its upcoming opponent.

The Volunteers (4-3, 2-2 SEC) will travel to Tuscaloosa where they will face Alabama (6-1, 3-1) at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. EDT and the game will be televised by ESPN.

Saturday’s game marks the 102nd all-time meeting between the longtime rivals that have played every year since 1944. The Crimson Tide hold a 57-37-7 advantage in a series that dates back to 1901.

This installment will revisit the Vols’ 16-13 win over Alabama on Oct. 21, 2006 at Neyland Stadium. It was UT’s last win over the Crimson Tide.

The Vols fell behind early and trailed 6-3 at halftime.

Alabama held the upper hand in the contest until Arian Foster scored on a 1-yard rush with 3 minutes, 28 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Foster rushed for 34 yards against Alabama and had UT’s lone touchdown of the game, proving to be the game-winning score.

Both offenses struggled as the Crimson Tide managed 53 rushing yards and Vols’ quarterback Erik Ainge lofted three interceptions.

James Wilhoit kicked three field goals for Tennessee. Alabama kicker Jamie Christensen made two field goals.

The Crimson Tide scored its lone touchdown on a 1-yard run by Tim Castille with 58 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
