Patrick Mahomes: Derrick Henry is one of the best RBs of all time

Patrick Mahomes is showing Derrick Henry plenty of respect ahead Titans-Chiefs in Week 7.

In Week 7, the Kansas City Chiefs will be the latest team tasked with stopping Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, who is off to the best start of his career and is on pace to match or break several records.

When asked about the superstar running back on Wednesday, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said that Henry is already one of the best running backs to ever play the game.

“I think he presents a challenge for everybody,” Mahomes said. “He’s one of the best running backs, to me, of all time. The way he’s able to run the football, to get 20 to 30, whatever 40 carries it is, and he comes back the next week and he seems like he’s just as fresh as the week before. He’s a special talent who works his tail off to be who he is, and so we understand it’s going to be a great challenge for any defense to stop him, but we’re going to try and do the best we can at limiting him as much as possible.”

Henry has had mixed results against the Chiefs the last two times these teams have squared off.

In Week 10 of 2019, Henry dominated Kansas City en route to 188 yards and two scores in a win, but in the AFC Championship Game later that season, Henry posted just 69 rushing yards and one touchdown in a losing effort.

Coming into this latest matchup, the Chiefs own the sixth-worst run defense in the NFL. While on paper this looks like a great matchup for Henry to explode in, Kansas City has shown it can stop The King before.

We’ll see who gest the better of this showdown on Sunday.
