The Vikings beat the Lions with a last-second field goal in Week 5. But after that victory last week, our friends at Touchdown Wire actually moved Minnesota down in its power rankings.
However, the Vikings’ Week 6 win over the Panthers was a different story: the team got a big boost in the power rankings, going from 24 to 18 on the list.

“For the fourth time in six games this season, it came down to the wire. But the Vikings are now starting to pull them out. The Vikes did lose a lead late and miss a field goal of their own, but Minnesota got their 34-28 overtime win over the Panthers with a KJ Osborn score.”
Minnesota heads into a bye week, so the different NFL power rankings shouldn’t be too unkind in Week 8. After this week, the Vikings play the Cowboys, a team that ranks fifth in Touchdown Wire’s most recent power rankings. With Patrick Peterson on IR, Minnesota should have a very tough matchup.
