Another former Volunteer, 76ers’ forward Tobias Harris, who has battled knee soreness, did not make the trip with Philadelphia to Detroit.
All three former Vols’ saw their teams lose.
In Detroit, the Pistons defeated Philadelphia, 112-108, at Little Caesars Arena.
2021 first-round draft pick Jaden Springer scored four points, pulled down three rebounds and dished out one assist for the 76ers.
He was 2-for-6 from the floor while playing 18 minutes.
Meanwhile in Chicago, Memphis fell to the Bulls, 118-105, at the United Center.
Yves Pons, who signed with the Grizzlies as an undrafted free agent over the summer, played five minutes against the Bulls and had one turnover in the contest.
In Miami, two former UT players were in action for the Celtics. Boston lost to the Heat, 121-100, at FTX Arena.
Grant Williams, a two-time Southeastern Conference Player of the Year during his time on Rocky Top, started at center for the Celtics Friday.
He had four points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal in 27 minutes.
Williams went 1-for-3 from the floor and 0-for-2 from beyond the 3-point arc. He was a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
Josh Richardson also appeared in the game for Boston. He played 20 minutes and scored 12 points.
Richardson was 4-for-9 from the field and went 2-for-6 from long range. He was 2-for-2 from the foul line.
He also had three assists and one steal against the Heat.
