Davion Taylor shines for Eagles on Thursday night

Davion Taylor got the start for the Eagles and made the most of it against Tom Brady and the Bucs.

One former Colorado Buffaloes star is starting to get some extra attention in just his second year in the NFL.

No, it isn’t Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr., either. It is Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Davion Taylor, who has been getting more and more run with the Eagles over the past few weeks.

Taylor suited up in 12 games in his rookie season after the Eagles selected him in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The former Buff got the start on Thursday night for the Eagles against Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl champions. This was just Taylor’s third game of the year and he was all over the place against the Carolina Panthers the week prior.

Taylor finished the game with a pair of tackles and a pair of assists as well but he did much more than that on the evening, which unfortunately ended in a 28-22 loss.

Against the Panthers, Taylor saw a career-high in snaps and basically forced the Philadelphia staff to throw him out there for more snaps—and he earned the start in prime time.

The Eagles’ defense has been gashed all year, especially their running defense. They got torched again on Thursday night as Leonard Fournette ran for 81 yards and a pair of scores and he also added six catches for 46 yards.

Nonetheless, Taylor dazzled on Thursday night and got some heavy praise during the broadcast as well, and the Eagles might have found a gem in the third round of last year’s draft.

In the coming weeks, it will be worth monitoring to see how Taylor progresses as far as snaps are concerned, but the past two weeks have been a great sign.
