The Philadelphia 76ers will have their final tune-up on Friday when they take on the Detroit Pistons in the Motor City and it will be more of the same for their All-Star point guard.
Ben Simmons ended his holdout and reported to the team on Monday to take his COVID test and he went through the NBA’s health and safety protocols. He was eligible to rejoin the team on Friday, but after only going through individual workouts, he did not travel to Detroit.
Simmons will remain out on Friday due to what the team is calling reconditioning to get him ready for basketball again. After clearing the protocols, he can rejoin the team soon as they will practice before the season opener on Oct. 20 against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Ben Simmons will not play in tonight’s preseason finale in Detroit as he reconditions, sources told ESPN. He did not travel with the Sixers, but he has cleared health and safety protocols and is eligible to rejoin the team.

The Sixers will be missing a majority of their team on Friday, but as long as they have everybody–including Simmons–available for their next practice and prepare for the season, that is all that matters. Tipoff from Little Caesars Arena is set for 7 p.m. EDT.
