Michigan football has certainly outperformed the 2021 season expectations thus far, as many pundits anticipated that the Wolverines wouldn’t be able to get past teams like Washington or Wisconsin in the early going. However, six games in, the maize and blue have six wins, in large part to big-time play from several key performers.
While it’s not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison, we took the top offensive and defensive grades (we omitted special teams and returns, because those grades would dominate this list, but special mention is deserved of kicker Jake Moody) for players who have played the bulk of the season. Ronnie Bell — who was injured in the first game of the season — would have been a top player on this list, as would linebacker Michael Barrett, who has played sparing snaps on defense to this point.
With that in mind, in order of overall offensive or defensive ranking, here are the top 10 players on the team according to their PFF grade thus far.
