Rutgers field hockey continues to set the standard for the school’s athletic program, climbing two spots in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division 1 Poll.
Rutgers is now third in the nation, moving up two spots after beating then No. 4 Penn State on the road last Friday. The loss sees the Nittany Lions move down one spot to fifth in the nation.
The win at Penn State makes Rutgers 10-2 on the year and 3-1 in the Big Ten. Their lone conference loss came two weeks ago at home to Iowa. Rutgers has beaten a total of eight programs that have been ranked this year.
The tough grind through the conference continues as they face No. 8 Maryland this Friday.
The inclusion of Rutgers now makes the top three programs in the national all from the Big Ten. No. 1 Iowa and No. 2 Michigan retained their spots atop the poll for another week.
The conference has six programs ranked in the most recent poll’s top 10 and seven total in the top 25.
