Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons has decided to finally end his holdout and report to the team as he returned to Philadelphia on Monday night. He took his COVID-19 test to fulfill his protocols for the NBA and now, it is a waiting game.
Per NBA rule, Simmons now has to wait five days before he can officially rejoin the team which puts his playing status on Friday against the Detroit Pistons in jeopardy. The Sixers do open the season on the road against the New Orleans Pelicans on Oct. 20 so it will be interesting if he will be ready to play in that game either.
He did show up to the facility to take his physical so that is a sign that he can rejoin the team and move forward sooner rather than later.
Sources say Ben Simmons took his required physical today for the #Sixers. His playing status for this season is too be determined. Simmons has to be in the NBA's COVID-19 protocol for 5 days. As a result, he can’t do any team events until Friday.

Simmons, of course, will have to be reintegrated with the team and continue to get himself in game shape before he can officially take the floor, but at this point, it will be more about how he can help the team. One can question whether he will be mentally involved in the game when and if he does step on the floor so it will be interesting to see what happens in that regard.
