“It was awesome to be out there and finally feel a part of the team,” Farley said.

Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley got off to a rough start to his rookie season, mostly because of injury, but the 2021 first-round pick took a step in the right direction in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Farley, who suited up in Week 1 before sitting out the next three games with a shoulder injury, was back in action on Sunday and was forced into a big role, as fellow corner Kristian Fulton was battling injury.

The Virginia Tech product ended up playing 24 snaps, but more importantly got the call over backup corner Breon Borders, which showed confidence in the 22-year-old because Borders is normally the first one off the bench.

Farley had four passes thrown into his coverage, per Pro Football Focus, which resulted in two catches for 13 yards and one pass defensed.

On the down side, he did get flagged for a defensive holding that wiped out a Jackrabbit Jenkins interception in the end zone, but other than that his performance was mostly positive.

“I mean, it felt great,” Farley said of his return to the field, per Jim Wyatt of Titans Online. “A lot of emotions I was feeling. I was extremely excited. I had butterflies, and it was awesome to be out there and finally feel a part of the team, and the brotherhood, and everybody giving their all to get a win.”

Head coach Mike Vrabel was happy with what he saw out of his rookie corner.

“He had a defensive holding that got an interception taken away, which was close,” Vrabel said. “He got up, tried to challenge, tried to play square, had some activity on special teams and hopefully he keeps getting better. (He just needs to) keep getting more reps out there in practice and be able to get in there and help us.”

Looking ahead to Week 6, Farley could once again get called upon to play a significant role if Fulton’s injury keeps him out of the “Monday Night Football” contest against the Buffalo Bills.

Whatever the case may be, all the Titans can ask for out of Farley right now is for him to show signs of progress. He definitely did that on Sunday.
