Lou Holtz just placed No. 11 Michigan State on upset alert this weekend at Rutgers.

The former legendary college football head coach, who spent a storied tenure at Notre Dame along with stops at Minnesota and South Carolina among other places, thinks that Rutgers bounces back from last weekend’s loss to Ohio State. Holtz likes what he saw two weeks ago in Michigan’s narrow 20-13 loss at No. 8 Michigan.

During the segment, Holtz raved about Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker, who is leading the FBS with 680 rushing yards. Walker also has eight rushing touchdowns, tied for sixth-most in the FBS. But despite the dominance of Walker this season, Holtz thinks Rutgers is going to play better than a week ago in a 52-13 loss to No. 7 Ohio State.

“Walker yes is a very, very good running back and Michigan State’s playing very well,” Holtz said on ‘The Football Breakdown’ on the Crowd’s Line social media channel.

“But let’s go to Rutgers –when I look at Rutgers and Greg Schiano, I have to throw out the game last week. I think that was just something that isn’t going to happen again. I think their home, they lost last week, but I think they come back, they’ll bounce back and play much better. They outgained Michigan by 25 yards when they lost to them by a score of 20-13. They’re are a complete football team.

“I think they’re playing very, very well. They prevail in this game 28-21 and they will hand Michigan State their first loss.”

Holtz is on the weekly YouTube channel along with Mark May, a former collegiate standout at Pittsburgh who won two Super Bowls after a career in the NFL that spanned more than a decade.

May picked Michigan State to win 24-17.
