Out of all 130 FBS quarterbacks, where does Max Johnson fall in the hierarchy or signal callers across the country? A film study from Pro Football Network lays out Johnson’s case as a top-60 quarterback.
It's back. All 130 QBs ranked.
An excruciating amount of work went into producing this including film, data, intensive notes, and of course, a massive amount of written words.
All this to say:Â Kenny Pickett is CFB's QB1 right now.

The semi-annual College Football Quarterback Power Rankings were published this week and Johnson came in at No. 61 in the country, according to PFN’s Cam Mellor.
Johnson was ranked No.73 in the preseason, allowing his solid play to bump him up 12 spots.
“Johnson has improved a touch this season, at least compared to his preseason ranking. Still, the lefty will occasionally make boneheaded decisions that leave viewers scratching their heads,” Mellor wrote after reviewing five weeks of tape. “With one of the nation’s emerging receivers at his disposal, it’s shocking that Johnson hasn’t been able to throw for more yards than he has.”
Through five weeks, Johnson has a 62.4% completion percentage with 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Mellor mentioned how Johnson has looked excellent, and sometimes dominant, against lesser opponents, but when facing the likes of Auburn and UCLA, Johnson hasn’t performed as well or up to the competition.

“Johnson’s leash may be shortening if he can’t duplicate the success he saw against FCS/Group of Five competition this year,” Mellor said.
Johnson will look to get back on track after an up and down day against Auburn in a matchup against Kentucky in Lexington.
