The Houston Texans are finally who NFL fans and media thought they were.
The Texans sustained a 40-0 loss to the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium, their worst loss in team history and their third shutout in franchise history. The Texans are on a path to getting a top-5 pick so long as rookie quarterback Davis Mills is under center.
Mills will go against a fellow rookie in Week 5 as the New England Patriots are all-in on first-rounder Mac Jones from Alabama. Jones almost led the Patriots to a win over the reigning Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football, if not for the game-winning field goal hitting off the left upright.
How do odds-makers see the Week 5 showdown between Mills and Jones going?
According to Tipico, the Patriots are favored by -7.5 points, the third-highest odds of Week 5. Only the Buccaneers at home against the Dolphins (-9.5) and the Minnesota Vikings at home against the Detroit Lions (-9.5) have better odds.
For Houston, they join the ranks as one of five home underdogs. The other home dogs for Week 5 are the Seattle Seahawks against the Los Angeles Rams, Washington against the New Orleans Saints, the Cincinnati Bengals against the Green Bay Packers, and the Jacksonville Jaguars against the Tennessee Titans.
The point total for the Texans and Patriots is 39.5, tied with the Denver Broncos versus Pittsburgh Steelers as the lowest over/under for Week 5. There used to be a time when Houston and New England had elite quarterbacks, but that won’t be the case in Week 5, and the odds-makers see it.
