Saturday likely didn’t go the way Lane Kiffin had hoped, and it was ugly.
Kiffin and his No. 12 Ole Miss football team were on the road against No. 1 Alabama and coach Nick Saban, Kiffin’s former boss, and they lost badly in a 42-21 blowout in a game featuring two Heisman favorites in Bryce Young and Matt Corral.
But unfortunately for Kiffin, Corral and the Ole miss team and fan base, the game in Tuscaloosa could have gone better, and Saban advanced his record to 24-0 against his former assistant coaches. And in what made for some entertaining plays, Saban and the Crimson Tide also won the fourth down battle, as Alabama was nearly perfect (3-for-4) while Ole Miss converted just 2-of-5 attempts.
Despite Kiffin’s team going against a powerhouse dynasty, the Ole Miss coach was unsurprisingly confident before the game. And he told CBS Sports: “Here we go; get your popcorn ready.”

Also unsurprisingly, that comment didn’t age well as the Crimson Tide’s offense tore the field apart and their defense practically suffocated Ole Miss. And college football fans had a lot of popcorn jokes.
Even Alabama’s mascot, Big Al, got in on it with some masterful trolling, according to CBS Sports’ Jamie Erdahl:
This feels….. purposeful? 🥸 pic.twitter.com/DfI1HVEgCc
