The Boston Celtics were very much not a fast team during the 2020-21 NBA season in terms of the pace of play. In fact, they were 20th overall. For new Boston head coach Ime Udoka, changing that fact is one of several areas the new coach plans to focus on this season.
“Twentieth in pace, we’ve really emphasized upping that,” related Udoka when speaking to the media after practice. “Pace gets misconstrued with transition,” he explained, noting he wanted the team to “be less ball stoppers.
