Lions find no trade partners, release LB Jamie Collins

The Detroit Lions release LB Jamie Collins after not finding any trade partners

Jamie Collins is no longer a Detroit Lions linebacker. The Lions released the veteran LB on Tuesday after being unable to find another team interesting in trading for his salary.

Collins was inactive in Week 3 and has not been with the team since a poor showing in the Week 2 Monday night loss in Green Bay. The Lions announced he was effectively done playing for the team. Jalen Reeves-Maybin and rookie Derrick Barnes split Collins’ reps in the loss to the Ravens.

Releasing Collins carries some significant financial burden. The Lions added $7.3 million in dead salary cap room for 2021 and an additional $6.6 million for 2022, per Spotrac.
