It’s really difficult to name a player of the week for the Washington Football Team in Week 3. After a disastrous 43-21 loss to the Bills, Washington doesn’t deserve widespread praise.
However, we did name a player of the game for Week 3, and that player is running back Antonio Gibson.
Gibson’s final stat line will not overwhelm anyone. He carried the football 12 times for 31 yards, his worst output of the young season. He made his presence felt on a 73-yard screen pass in which he took to the house to give Washington its first points.

This was a brilliant catch-and-run by Gibson, who showed vision, patience, speed and toughness in taking this one to the house. He also gave his team a shot in the arm and put Washington back in the game.
It was a perfectly executed screen pass by Washington. When was the last time you could say that? Washington is usually on the wrong end of a perfectly executed screen.
In an otherwise ugly day for Washington, Gibson gave fans some excitement on a tremendous individual play.
