The Yakuza series is one of the consistently excellent in modern gaming, but after concluding the saga of Kiryu Kazuma, with Yakuza 6, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has been busy reinventing its formula with successful spinoffs.
In 2018, the developer released Judgment, a story-driven action adventure detective game set in the familiar world of Kamurocho. Judgment had the look of a classic Yakuza game, but tasked players with examining evidence and solving cases in between beating up ruffians on the street.
Main character Takayuki Yagami returns the sequel, Lost Judgment, which released Friday – but does the game meet the standard set by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio?
