Texans fans salty as Titans celebrate Oilers history this week

There is quite a bit of salt coming from Houston this week as the Titans celebrate the Oilers.

Houston Texans fans can’t seem to shake the fact that the Tennessee Titans continue to claim the Houston Oilers as their own, even though the Titans were actually the Oilers before moving to Tennessee.

As AtoZ Sports Nashville’s Austin Stanley so brilliantly put it: “When your family moves from one city to another do you leave all your pictures and furniture in the old house for the new family?”

Adding to that, the Titans, who own the rights to everything Oilers, were actually the Tennessee Oilers before changing their name to its current form.

As controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk, who is the daughter of former Oilers and Titans owner, Bud Adams, said back in 2019, “the Oilers don’t have anything to do with the Texans.”

Regardless of all of this, Texans fans continue to hit the roof when the Titans celebrate Oilers history, something the team is doing in advance of inducting former Oilers head coach Bum Phillips into its Ring of Honor in Week 3.

Now, we bask in the glory of all the salt coming out of Houston from Texans fans who simply can’t let it go that they aren’t and will never be part of Houston Oilers history.
