Kazee, Kearse providing Cowboys with solid safety play early in 2021

The safety position in Dallas has gone from much-maligned to a strength so far in 2021 with the play of Damontae Kazee and Jayron Kearse. | From @StarConcience

This can’t be true when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys, can it? Albeit in just two games, the Cowboys are getting consistent, good play from the safety position.

Damontae Kazee and Jayron Kearse were both signed in March. Although the Cowboys added ballhawk Malik Hooker to play free safety during training camp, Kazee has started the first two games of the 2021 season and has contributed to something the Cowboys defense wanted to build on from the end of last season, creating turnovers. Not coincidentally, they’ve come at critical moments. Kearse was initially a substitute but played a lot in Week 1 and moved into the starting lineup for Week 2 due to injury. Both have been highly impressive in their play.
