Laviska Shenault set for MRI after injuring shoulder

Laviska Shenault and the Jaguars had a dud vs the Broncos. Moreover, the Jags WR is set for an MRI.

The Colorado Buffaloes alumni found some success in the NFL to begin the 2021 NFL season. Phillip Lindsay has now scored a touchdown in his first two games with the Houston Texans.

Laviska Shenault had a productive 2021 debut for the Jacksonville Jaguars against Lindsay and the Texans in Week 1. However, Week 2 didn’t fare too kindly for Shenault and the Jags as Trevor Lawrence once again struggled.

Not only did the Jaguars lose again–this time to the Denver Broncos– but Shenault suffered an injury. In fact, the former Buffs star is set for an MRI after injuring his shoulder, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

This is not the news that the Jaguars want to hear, especially after starting off 0-2 in the Urban Meyer-Trevor Lawrence era, but here we are.

It was a wildly unproductive day for Shenault, unfortunately. He finished the game with two catches for negative yardage–on seven targets– and added a carry for zero yards, and the energy in Jacksonville is concerning after they dropped their first two games.

The health of Shenault is more concerning, considering he is one weapon that Meyer and offensive coordinator Darren Bevell were excited to utilize this season and beyond.

The Jags and their staff will be waiting anxiously to hear the news about Shenault, and if he is forced to miss some time, it could mean more targets for DJ Chark, who had just one catch also in Sunday’s loss to the Broncos.
