Arkansas vs Georgia Southern football: 3 Predictions, 1 Crazy

Razorbacks Wire editor E. Wayne and contributors John Nabors and Derek Oxford give their 3 specific predictions, including final score, with 1 wild one thrown in for Arkansas-Georgia Southern.

It’s gameday on The Hill and our third installment of of “3 Predictions, 1 Crazy” for Arkansas football 2021 is here.

Every Saturday morning on Hogs football gamedays, you will find Razorbacks Wire editor E. Wayne and contributor John Nabors giving three picks on events that will take place in that day’s game. One of those picks has to be a little bit off the wall, something that could happen, but it’d be wild if it did.

Picking Arkansas to complete a pass to Treylon Burks, for example, is a bad prediction for these purposes. Picking Burks to have eight catches and 100 yards, that’s better. Also picking, say, a penalty for targeting, another nice one. It’s unlikely, but has potential.

Without further ado, welcome to 3 Predictions, 1 Crazy, Arkansas-Georgia Southern.

This Will Happen

Oxford: Arkansas 45, Georgia Southern 10

Nabors: Arkansas 45, Georgia Southern 17

Wayne: Arkansas 34, Georgia Southern 13

All three our of staff members here at RazorbacksWire envision Arkansas having no problem against the Eagles today.

Bolin stuck to his initial, preseason score prediction. Nabors had the biggest change from preseason picks. He initially had Arkansas 31, Georgia Southern. Texas game changed a lot of minds.

This Might Happen

Oxford: KJ Jefferson throws for three touchdowns

Nabors: KJ Jefferson throws for 300-plus yards

Wayne: Malik Hornsby plays entire fourth quarter

If those first two predictions happen, the third should. Or, at least, the third should come close. Jefferson is averaging only 133 yards passing per game through two, but Georgia Southern’s secondary has been bad this year.

As for the other, if Arkansas plays like it did against against Texas, or even like it did for the second half of the Rice game, it should provide Sam Pittman his first prolonged opportunity to play Hornsby, the redshirt freshman, at quarterback and see what he has.

This Is Crazy

Oxford: Bumper Pool gets three sacks

Nabors: Arkansas gets first pick-six of the season

Bolin: Arkansas runs for 300-plus yards again

Wayne hit on his pick last week. But, in retrospect, it didn’t seem all that crazy. This week, the wildest pick has to be Oxford. Pool has a grand total of one sack in his three-plus seasons with the Razorbacks.

A pick-six would send Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium to the sky. This is still a Hogs fan base that is on Cloud 9.
