Houston Texans safety Justin Reid is familiar with the Cleveland Browns’ tight end duo.
Austin Hooper was a player that he was teammates with at Stanford from 2015-16. David Njoku is a player that Reid describes as a “very athletic guy.”
With the Texans taking on the Browns, who feature a similar ball-control offense like that of Houston’s, Reid expects to play a more blue collar game in Cleveland.
“It’s just going to be a smash mouth, old school type of game,” said Reid. “They are going to try to run the ball down the hill. They are going to have some gimmicks. I’m sure they have something prepared for us. So, it’s going to be a lot about eye control.”
The “eye control,” according to Reid, is making sure that the tight ends don’t sneak out into the passing lanes, as the Browns have a tendency to line up their tight ends in sundry formations.
“This game will be fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals,” said Reid. “Eye control and attacking your gaps, and then making the tackles. That’s what this game is going to come down to.”
Houston takes on the Browns Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Central Time from FirstEnergy Stadium.
