Gimmie Him: Corey Davis would ignite New England passing offense

just wide receiver Corey Davis would fit the New England passing offense

As the New England Patriots get set to take on the New York Jets, one has to wonder how a certain Jets player would fare on the New England roster. In this week’s edition of Gimmie Him (where we pretend we can steal a player from the Patriots’ upcoming opponent), I would want to have Jets wide receiver Corey Davis on the roster.

Davis had a tremendous opening game last Sunday, recording five catches for 97 yards and two touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers. He averaged 19.4 yards per reception. It was a good start to the season for Davis, who had a 65 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns last season. A member of the Tennessee Titans last year, Davis proved to be a valuable weapon for quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

In week one, the New England Patriots showed that they had weapons on offense. However, they were not able to get a deep threat going. Davis would be able to fill that void. Time will tell if New England can get some explosive production from their receiving group.

Although the Patriots do not have the wide receiver blows that they had in 2020, Davis would certainly be a formidable option in the New England offense. Furthermore, he went strengthen the wide receiving group. Beyond their starting receivers, the Patriots do not have a ton of depth. Davis would rectify the depth problem immediately.  In addition to just depth, he has the ability to get yards after the catch. Those are two things that New England could use in a major way.

Although he looks to be a key weapon for the New York Jets, it is certainly fun to dream. Corey Davis would be a dynamic weapon for the New England offense. With the Jets looking for their first win on Sunday, will be interesting to see how much of an impact Davis has on the game offensively.
