AFC South standings: Texans sit alone atop division after Week 1

We don’t expect it to last long, but the Texans are alone in first place in the AFC South.

With a win in Week 1, the Houston Texans sit atop the AFC South alone, as the Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts all lost.

Of course, the Titans were wiped out by the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, losing 38-13 in game a that was never really close. The Colts struggled as well, dropping their home opener to the Seattle Seahawks, 28-16.

The Texans notched a victory at home over the Jaguars, topping their division rival 37-21 to give them sole possession of first place at the moment.

Here’s a look at how things stand in the division after Sunday:

1. Houston Texans (1-0)

T-2. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1)

T-2. Indianapolis Colts (0-1)

T-2. Tennessee Titans (0-1)

We’re not sure too many people had it drawn up like this before the season started, but here we are. Regardless, it’s still very early and we fully expect things to change, especially with Houston.

It’s safe to say the Titans had the worst showing of any team in the division in Week 1 — and things won’t get any easier in Week 2 with Tennessee having to travel to CenturyLink Field to take on the Seahawks.

Meanwhile, the Texans will look to keep the good times rolling with a tough road matchup against the Cleveland Browns, a team that nearly upset the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

The Colts will draw the Los Angeles Rams at home, and the Jaguars will play host to the Denver Broncos. Los Angeles and Denver both started off the season with a victory in their respective contests.
