Demetris Robertson came to Auburn to be the number one receiver in Bryan Harsin’s offense.
On Saturday, it looked like he had fulfilled that role.
The former Georgia Bulldog had three catches Saturday for 61 yards through the air. Two of them went for a touchdown.
“It was great. We needed those momentum plays and I had to do it for my teammates,” Robertson said after the game. “They were all counting on me to make those catches.”
He also had a rushing attempt go for 36 yards and a score.
“It all came down to the blocking,” Robertson said. “I was trying to feel the defense out and feel my blocks out. I just took off down the sidelines and everything was good.”
Bo Nix seems to trust Robertson and the chemistry is starting to grow between the two of them. This is all happening just in time for Auburn to hit the road and head to play Penn State next week.
For Robertson, he loves going on the road.
“I love road games because it shows how close the team is,” he said. “We have to be close because that’s all we have on the road. Our football family. I love the crowd and the people going against you. It’s extra juice for us to win the game and to be great on offense, special teams, and defense.”
