Last weekend against Florida State, it was a bit longer score for Michael Mayer. Today, it wasn’t as long of a scoring reception but Jack Coan still found his tight end, Mayer for the first score of the game.
It was yet another great opening drive called by offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, even though this time he mixed in a few run plays to get the offense going. The fast start gets the Irish on the board early once again, the drive took 6-plays and covered 75-yards. It’s the second score of the season for Mayer and Coan’s fifth touchdown pass so far this season.
