First look: Iowa at Iowa State odds and lines, a tight battle for the Cy-Hawk

The Cy-Hawk Trophy is up for grabs on Saturday when the Iowa Hawkeyes (1-0) and Iowa State Cyclones (1-0) square off at Jack Trice Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at Iowa at Iowa State odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

Both teams are ranked in the USA TODAY AFCA Coaches Poll entering the 68th edition of this in-state rivalry. The preseason No. 18 Hawkeyes looked dominant in its debut, beating No. 17 Indiana 34-6 last week behind a defense that allowed just 233 total yards and saw DB Riley Moss return two interceptions for touchdowns.

No. 8 Iowa State looked rustier in its tune-up last week. They were a 29-point favorite against FCS opponent Northern Iowa but squeaked by in a 16-10 win. This is a consensus top-10 Cyclone team that won six of its last seven games in 2020 and might have been caught looking ahead to this in-state showdown.

Iowa at Iowa State head-to-head

Iowa holds the series lead, 45-22, and has won each of the last five games They have also won 12 of the last 17 dating back to 2003. The last three games have all been close—2017’s matchup went to overtime, 2018’s game ended 13-3 and the 2019 version was a 19-18 thriller. Iowa and Iowa State didn’t play each other in 2020 since the Big Ten played a conference-only schedule.

Iowa covered five of their last six games in 2020, while Iowa State went 7-5 ATS last season.
