The Rams set their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday after going through final cuts, but it’s very much still a fluid situation with players coming and going. In addition to placing both Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and Tremayne Anchrum on injured reserve, the Rams made a couple of moves on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
They have activated Johnny Hekker from COVID-19 reserve and placed Chris Garrett on the list, making it a one-for-one swap and preventing the Rams from having to cut someone to create room for Hekker on the active roster.
LA Rams:
• Reserve/Injured T Tremayne Anchrum
• Reserve/Injured LB Ogbonnia Okoronkwo
• Reserve/COVID-19 LB Chris Garrett
• Activated, from Reserve P Johnny Hekker— Los Angeles Rams (@RamsNFL) September 2, 2021
Hekker had been on the reserve/COVID-19 list since Aug. 21, so it was an extended absence for the Rams’ punter. Garrett’s timeline to return depends on his vaccination status.
Vaccinated players can return after two negative tests at least 24 hours apart. Unvaccinated players must isolate for at least 10 days and test negative before returning to the team.
Garrett’s vaccination status is unknown, but the Rams only have one player who hasn’t been vaccinated, according to Sean McVay.
