The Washington Football Team released 27 players on Monday and Tuesday to trim their roster to 53 players by the NFL’s 4 p.m. ET deadline on Tuesday.
The day got off to a bit of a surprising start when Washington released third-year cornerback Jimmy Moreland. The depth and versatility of Washington’s secondary made the move possible.
Outside of the mildly surprising Moreland release, Washington’s other surprise was only keeping four linebackers. The Football Team released linebackers Joe Walker, Jordan Kunaszyk, David Mayo and Jared Norris over the last two days. Don’t expect that number to remain at four, as Washington will scour the waiver wire and inquire about a possible trade.
