The evaluation window is closed. The Miami Dolphins saw their 2021 preseason come to a close on Sunday in a 29-26 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals and now must begin to whittle down their roster. There are plenty of things to consider: salary cap, offense, defense, special teams and longevity.
The team told us plenty about who they thought was safe with the team’s decision to sit a large number of players in the preseason finale against the Bengals. But among those who took the field and were competing, the snap counts can provide some level of perspective on which players are most under the microscope and/or which players are so far off the edge of the bubble that the Dolphins didn’t push them a bunch of snaps.

We’ll let you make your own conclusions from the snap distribution for now; but the Dolphins are going to tell us plenty in the next 36 hours as they begin the process of stripping down their roster to make the cutoff of 53 players by 4PM EST on Tuesday. So we won’t need too much guesswork before having the final answer.
