The 49ers got on the board first Sunday afternoon against the Raiders. They scored on a one-yard rush from quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, but the end of the run might’ve been something the 49ers didn’t love to see.
Garoppolo on a series where he and rookie QB Trey Lance alternated snaps. Lance got the team to the Raiders’ 1-yard-line, and then came out for Garoppolo. The starting QB went on a bootleg off play action, didn’t see a throwing lane, so he tucked it and ran. The decision was the right one, but lowering his shoulder at the goal line to get through a pair of Raiders defenders was probably not how the coaching staff wanted to see the play end.
It was a terrific play by Garoppolo though as he stacks up his case to stay in the 49ers’ starting lineup.
Feels great baby ‼️ @JimmyG_10
