Vikings coach Mike Zimmer thinks the team needs conditioning after loss the Chiefs

“I know it’s hot out there tonight, but those guys were sucking,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer addressed some of the team’s problems after its loss to the Chiefs.

Zimmer said the team ran out of running backs on Friday. He also said that it ran out of wide receivers.

“The other part is, I think we’re going to have to do some conditioning,” Zimmer said. “I know it’s hot out there tonight, but those guys were sucking. We’re probably going to have to condition the rest of this week and some of next week.”

The Vikings coach was asked if conditioning was still an issue during the game, Here’s what he said:

“Well, these guys played a lot of plays tonight, especially the offensive guys,” Zimmer told reporters. “On special teams, we had a couple of injuries, so guys had to go there. We had a couple of linebackers, so we had a few there. It was hot and they’re playing every play on special teams. I know there was a couple of guys that couldn’t rise to the occasion there towards the end.”

Ultimately, the Vikings fell to the Chiefs, 28-25. The result itself might be meaningless, but how the game unfolded was certainly concerning. There were mishaps on offense, defense and special teams. Maybe conditioning more will help solve some of that.
