The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, formerly of Stadium, released his 2021 college football bowl projections yesterday, including his projected spread in each matchup.
For a Wisconsin team that settled with a Duke’s Mayo Bowl appearance last season, the New Year’s Six should be an attainable goal for this year’s team.
You have to try really hard not to go to a bowl this year. A record 84 teams (65% of FBS teams) will go bowling this year. Who goes where? Glad you asked. My preseason bowl projections for @ActionNetworkHQ will give you a sneak peek https://t.co/G2Mqvre1O9

The New Year’s Six is where McMurphy sees the Badgers finishing, projecting them to face off against the Pac 12’s Utah in the Rose Bowl.
McMurphy’s projected spread in that game? Wisconsin -1.
After all that’s gone on in the last two years and in their recent Rose Bowl appearances, a matchup against Utah would be looked upon fondly by Badger fans. And at least entering the year, it is a game they would have a great chance to win.
