Minnesota needed to cut its roster down to 80 players by Tuesday, and that’s exactly what the team did. But the Vikings haven’t stopped making cuts there.
Minnesota waived T Evin Ksiezarczyk and waived/injury settlement K Riley Patterson. Patterson was waived/injured earlier this offseason.
This settlement makes it so that the kicker doesn’t have to go on the Vikings’ IR for the year. The settlement is also so the team can pay the player for the time he is expected to miss.
With the settlement reached, Patterson can become a free agent and sign with other NFL teams. He was an enticing player coming out of college at Memphis this year. Due to health, he didn’t have the greatest chance of competing with K Greg Joseph for the starting kicker spot on Minnesota.
Ksiezarczyk was signed after he tried out during the Vikings minicamp in 2021. Minnesota has decided to go in a different direction for reserve offensive linemen, it looks like.
