The annual release of Madden 22 has arrived and with it comes a fresh attempt at overhauling the NFL’s official simulation franchise. Gamers and football fans alike rejoiced this past weekend with the release of the game; but Dolphins fans caught a bit of a surprise when they fired up the game to play with their favorite team.
Second-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa: throwing righty?
Sure enough, the pregame promos and warmup shots show Tagovailoa throwing the ball with his right hand instead of his left. Actual gameplay has Tagovailoa properly oriented as a left-handed quarterback, so this appears to be a bug or oversight in the pregame festivities only.

Perhaps you’ve heard the stories of Tagovailoa’s father, Galu, forcing Tua to learn to throw left-handed as a child despite being a natural righty? If not, we can use this spoof by Madden as a good chance to revisit Tagovailoa’s father’s teachings to his oldest son.
“You know, I switched him to a left hander. But he’s actually a right hander…It just became fluent and he just grew into it. That’s the crazy part about it. I never thought I could make him adapt to that. As we constantly kept putting the ball on his left hand, eventually he grew into throwing the ball with his left.” — Galu Tagovailoa via AL.com
We don’t think that’s what Madden had in mind here, but never the less Dolphins fans can take solace in knowing that the actual gameplay gets this important detail about the Dolphins’ quarterback right. And one would image that a game patch is just around that corner that will fix this imagery for the year — so enjoy the odd sight while you can, gamers!
